Skyrim Drops Soon, Best Game Ever?

Skyrim is coming out 11/11/11, and the info and video up to this point look amazing. We are dealing with the strongest game creating team of all time. The only games remotely close to the same level are MMORPG's and even some of these are not as massive or as fun as Fallout and Elder Scrolls. Bethesda is light years ahead of the competition. Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3, featured massive open worlds, complex AI, and the ability to play as you see fit. We are very happy that Bethesda is continuing the Elder Scrolls series, when they let game developers Obsidian, take on Fallout New Vegas, I was apprehensive, and rightly so. Although New Vegas was fun, it was not even close to the level of craftsmanship seen in Fallout 3. Recently, it's been revealed that Skyrim has several new features which are enticing to say the least. On top of a new game engine, who's graphics seem too good to be true, we see many elements which I have been looking for since Morrowind. Duel wield, finally, this will prove to be fun. But not just duel wield like two swords, you can map any one handed weapon to either hand, or any spell. Put the same spell on both hands and cast simultaneously for extra damage. Sick. Go into a dungeon with two mage's staves, the possibilities are endless. Something I'm really looking forward to is the improved third person view. If there is any criticism  to be had about Morrowind or Oblivion, the awkward third person fighting would be at the top of my list. It seems this has been addressed, and playing the entire game in third person, is finally a viable option. There are finishing moves, we see one or two in the E3 demo, they look fantastic. Playing as a stealth ninja thief will be more awesome than ever with the ability to sneak up and cut throats. The economy in Skyrim is said to be a part of the game, though your ability to participate in it is still limited, I love these kind of options. One of the heavy incentives of playing Fable 3, is the ability to buy and sell property, run businesses, or rent houses. We will see how close we get. Also new to the Elder Scrolls series is the ability to marry. Opposite or same sex marriages are now a part of the game. Its been hinted that this is not a huge part of the story, but it has been said that your spouse will cook you dinner, sweet! I wonder if we could have children in Skyrim? http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/119/1191569p1.html That was another nice touch in Fable, the ability to have a family. We now can cook certain food and meat, making their effects more beneficial. Cooking could be a skill we'll have to level up.

All the villagers have jobs, like blacksmithing, logging, mining, all the usual RPG trades, but now we can participate in these activities as well. Every item in the game can be viewed close up in high res. and rotated 360 degrees. A nice touch. It is truly amazing that Bethesda can make such an enormous game fit on one disk. The makers of Star Ocean, and Final Fantasy 13 should take notes, three disks each, and their games are not even one tenth the scope of Skyrim, or even Oblivion for that matter. More treasure, better loot, and the ability to carry around more stuff, are all implemented Skyrim features. Something I heard in one of the interview videos with Bethesda's game director Todd Howard, is that when you level up in Skyrim, you now (much like Fallout) get to pick a perk. If you have played the Fallout series then you know how awesome perks are. I can only imagine how sweet leveling up is going to be in Skyrim. A hilarious bit of information is that the game developers stopped counting play time when they hit 300 hours. So this epic will be well over 300 hours to get 100% completion. Another very important change from Oblivion is that the mobs do not level up as you do, instead each area of the game has different level mobs within it. It was annoying to me that when I was a level 30+ badass in Oblivion and went back to earlier areas the mobs had become exponentially stronger to keep up with me. I like low level areas and then graduating to higher level areas. This way you can become strong, then return to your old stomping grounds and get revenge. Sadistic, one hit kill revenge. Todd Howard said the enemies will adjust slightly as you level, but the low areas will stay low level, and the high areas will stay high. Skyrim no doubt has the potential for game of the year, but even more importantly the best game ever.
